2025 Business Plan launched to help drive forward the IFB's ambitious fraud-fighting plans

To help lead the industry’s collective fight against fraud, the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) has revealed its 2025 Business Plan, as it enters the final year of its three-year strategy, Forward Together.

The year ahead will see the IFB broaden its membership to drive forward a simple and agile approach to engaging with the industry, enabling a more inclusive membership while enhancing value. The organisation will also focus on its technology strategy, to develop an integrated solution fit for the future. And it will build on its award-winning prevention campaigns to help protect the public from the devastating impact of fraud.

Crucially, the IFB will also be laying the foundations for its next strategy and is calling on its members for input, so the industry will always stay one step ahead of fraud in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Ursula Jallow, Director at the IFB, said:

"As we look ahead to 2025, we are focused on delivering our key priorities but will also be turning our attention to developing our future strategy and, as part of that development, we will be consulting with our members and industry stakeholders. I hope that our members and the wider industry recognises the incredible role it’s played in our 2024 successes and feels excited about working together further to embrace the year ahead.”

Members of the IFB can look forward to work being developed in the following areas:

Leading the collective fight against fraud

The IFB will continue its vital commitment reduce insurance fraud, to protect the public and reduce fraud-related costs for members so they can better serve their customers. 2025 will also see the IFB reach the end of its current ‘Forward Together’ strategy and set a new strategic direction.

Acting as a trusted partner and improving processes to deliver BAU operations

Together with members, the IFB detected over £153m worth of insurance fraud last year, and the organisation will continue to be a safe gateway for sharing industry data and intelligence to detect and disrupt fraudsters. New member training will also become available to provide assurances around compliance and improve efficiencies by enhancing the IFB's processes.

Broadening the Membership to enhance value

The IFB will reach the peak of its ambitious programme aimed at creating a fairer levy structure and removing barriers to accessing its products, services and data sharing. This will ultimately enhance fraud intelligence, enabling both new and existing members to make more informed decisions.

Decommissioning legacy tech to better serve as the industry’s data hub for fraud intelligence and analytics

The replatforming of the IFiHUB last year saw members upload 15,000 suspicious or confirmed fraud cases which contributed to nearly 2,200 new intelligence reports. But technology advancements won’t stop there as work has begun to build a new single solution which will integrate the IFB's industry counter-fraud databases into one platform.

Creating a positive societal impact through our prevention campaigns

Last year the IFB's Communications & Campaigns team reached people nearly 100 million times with its messaging aimed at changing hearts and minds. 2025 will focus on using digital marketing and PR to raise awareness of the CheatLine in order to keep the public safe, instil public trust and confidence in the industry and keep costs down for members.
