IFB’s broker membership grows with addition of Autonet Insurance
The insurance industry’s collective fight against fraud strengthened this week as Autonet Insurance joined the Insurance Fraud Bureau’s (IFB) membership.
Autonet joins a growing contingent of brokers, including BGL, AA and Premium Choice, working alongside the IFB to combat organised fraud. The IFB coordinates the sharing of intelligence and management of cross-industry investigations into crime groups targeting the insurance sector.
Since its launch in 2006, the IFB in collaboration with its members have contributed to over 1,200 arrests, over 630 convictions and a total of 557 years of prison time for organised criminals perpetrating the crimes.
The IFB’s newest member Autonet was established in 1998 and offers motor, home, business and lifestyle insurance products.
Welcoming Autonet to the IFB, Nick Benham, the Bureau’s Head of Customer Services, commented: “There is no such thing as immunity to fraud within the insurance sector. The IFB was founded on the principle of strength in numbers and the growing nature of the IFB’s membership is an indication of the appetite within insurers, brokers and affiliates to stamp down on fraud.”
“Brokers hold key and direct relationships with consumers and are therefore at the front line of our fight against fraud. With Autonet on-board with the IFB, the sharing of intelligence and coordination of investigations to disrupt the criminal activity will further strengthen.”
Ian Donaldson, Autonet’s CEO said: “Protecting our customers from the impact of fraud is of paramount importance to Autonet Insurance. Fraud increases premiums for all, and we are determined to work closely with the IFB to disrupt those who systematically seek to defraud our industry.”
