IFB welcomes two Chief Claims Officers to the Board

19 February 2018

The Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) is pleased to welcome David Nichols, Chief Claims Officer at Zurich and Graham Gibson, Chief Claims Officer at Allianz onto the IFB Board.

This follows the unveiling of the new two-tiered Board structure last October, with the announcement of the new IFB Board and a General Insurance Fraud Committee (GIFC).

The IFB Board, which is chaired by AXA’s Group CEO, Amanda Blanc, governs and oversees the direction of the IFB as it works to fulfil its strategic objectives. This includes helping the industry realise fraud savings by providing them with the intelligence they need to repudiate claims and cancel policies, as well as assisting police investigations into organised insurance fraud, ultimately helping to bring fraudsters to justice.

Following the governance review, the Board’s remit now extends to provide supervision and oversight on behalf of the industry for IFED and also the broader industry fraud strategy. A focus for 2018 for the Board includes the development of the new Information Management System (IMS), the launch of the new NetReveal system and the ongoing support of the IFB in achieving its goals outlined in the 20:20 strategic vision.

Welcoming the new members to the board, Amanda Blanc commented: “We look forward to working closely with David and Graham as their wealth of claims experience will no doubt bring new insight to the IFB Board. Having this new expertise provides ample opportunity to share knowledge and gain broader perspectives about the issues affecting the industry.

It is essential that we continue to work collaboratively as an industry in the ongoing fight against fraud, as it is only by working together and sharing our knowledge that enables us to improve in our efforts to deter and tackle fraud.”

Speaking about his new appointment, Allianz’s Chief Claims Officer Graham Gibson commented: “I am a big supporter of the IFB’s work and I share their commitment to tackle insurance fraud in all its forms. In particular, there is a public perception that fraud is a victimless crime and that attitude needs changing. I look forward to working with the team and continuing efforts to tackle this serious crime which impacts the whole of society.”

Zurich’s Chief Claims Officer David Nichols added: "I am delighted to be joining the IFB, tackling insurance fraud is the right thing for the industry and those customers that are loyal and honest, I am really impressed with the capabilities that I have seen within the IFB."
