Why report fraud?
Insurance fraud is not a victimless crime. The Association of British Insurers (ABI) states that detected fraud costs over £1 billion each year and adds £50 to the total cost of household insurance. Undetected fraud is estimated to cost a further £2 billion on top of that. The impact is more than financial however, with some 'Crash for Cash' scams targeting innocent road users by inducing collisions and putting them, and their passengers, in harm's way.
By reporting fraud you can help us identify fraudsters and with the support of regulators and police bring them to justice. Reducing fraud can help lower insurance premiums and keep our roads safe.
Our CheatLine is a free and confidential way of reporting insurance fraud. The information you provide will only be used to help detect and prevent fraud, and is a vital ingredient in the fight against fraud.
